Social media is a strange, wonderful creature. A person can be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It strikes me as a 21st century version of bi-location, which flies in the face of everything we know to be true about matter and existence. Great thinkers scoffed at the idea of bi-location, essentially calling it a phantasmal replication. Basically, an unreal mirage or image. Until the Internet came along, that is. Now everything that is done on-line is stored, indexed, and searchable forever.
What does bi-location and phantasmal replication have to do with this blog? Well, I am is trying to get ahead of the curve and define myself for the next part of my life instead of having circumstances or other people define me. I am planing on using this blog to float ideas, hear from other people in changing life circumstances, and explore how to make this second act as vibrant and meaningful as possible. Social media allows me to be everywhere and no-where at once in a community that is far bigger than anything in my daily life.
So, if you feel like it, drop me a line and tell me what you think about reshaping life after major changes. I will be using these posts to explore ideas, discuss what works and doesn’t work, and generally look to find new passions and interests. I’d be happy to have new companions along for the ride. Maybe we can help each other.
